About Me
I have photographers galore who inspire me: They are mostly old-school shutter bugs like Eve Arnold, Berenice Abbott, Lisette Model, Helen Levitt and so many others who bravely and eloquently broke down gender barriers; and then there are lensmen I admire, like: Garry Winogrand—not necessarily for his pictorial style but his spontaneity; Yousuf Karsh's portraiture; Irving Penn and Dick Avedon’s minimalism; Frank Hurley’s haunting depictions, especially his Endurance photos; and Martin Munkácsi's pioneering introduction of movement.
I have master's degrees in journalism and communication arts. I'm also pursuing additional higher education, including a PhD. I shoot analog and digital in 35mm and medium format. I also shoot and edit video. My demo reel is available upon request.
I cover a combination of entertainment, red-carpet, corporate and breaking-news events. Events include visiting the White House multiple times, as well as photographing the last four U.S. presidents, vice presidents, prime ministers, U.N. conferences, stage performances and the Dalai Lama. I've flown with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels in preparation for the Chicago air and water show. That I know of, I was the only photographer to capture B.B. King's last concert performance at the House of Blues.
